A Brighter Future for Lindy

Lindy joined MTC Australia’s Transition to Work program in May 2019, identifying several barriers including extreme financial hardship, disengagement from education and no employment history.

Lindy relocated to Australia in the beginning of 2019 and was ineligible for financial assistance, and her attempts to gain employment had been unsuccessful.

Lindy last attended school in 2012, having completed Year 6 overseas. Lindy and her family advised this was due to the imminent risk of and ongoing exposure to widespread violence.

Lindy has and continues to demonstrate a high level of resilience, determination and maturity. She articulates how her past experiences have impacted her present and uses this as a catalyst for change for a brighter future.

Lindy has shown great strength and self-determination and it is through her resilience and ongoing perseverance, she has successfully commenced a Childcare Traineeship with Tiny Feet Preschool.

Lindy’s journey with Transition to Work has enabled her to achieve her educational and employment goals, and manage personal barriers. Lindy has increased her employability and communication skills, confidence during interviews, job searching and resume writing techniques and career awareness.

Transition to Work has provided Lindy with interview attire and financial assistance to undertake a Childcare First Aid Course, in addition to helping her obtain a Working with Children Clearance and proof of identification.

Lindy has also been connected to external services to support her and her family with ongoing financial hardships.

With the support of her family, employer, external services within the community and different divisions within MTC Australia, Lindy has successfully commenced her career in childcare.
