MTC Australia donates over $23,000 to Oxfam’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal

MTC Australia’s clients and staff have united to raise over $23,000 for Oxfam’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal.

The not-for-profit organization, which delivers youth, employment and training initiatives across Sydney, held a series of morning and afternoon teas to raise funds for the devastated region.

Youth & Community General Manager Martin Keil said the organization decided to match the $11,739 raised after the overwhelming response from staff and clients.

“MTC staff were very concerned by the suffering in Nepal and wanted to contribute to aid efforts on the ground.

“Our thoughts are with the people of Nepal and we are very pleased that our staff and clients have given so generously.”

English language student Reena Limbu, who migrated from Nepal, was in tears when she saw students from all 10 classes participate in the fundraising campaign for the earthquake victims.

“It was so wonderful to see my classmates from Sudan, Vietnam, Croatia, Cambodia, Iraq, China and Lebanon care so much for my brothers and sisters in Nepal.

“I am very grateful for all their generosity and kindness.”

Reena said she was very moved when she learned that MTC Australia was hosting fundraisers across all sites and was going to match the contributions dollar for dollar.

“It makes me so happy to know that everyone in Australia is remembering the people of Nepal. I feel like my school is my family now,” she said.

“I hope everybody continues to pray for Nepal.”
