Do you have a customer who’s interested in starting a business and becoming their own boss?
The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is a government-funded program that empowers aspiring entrepreneurs to realise their dream of starting their very own sustainable business through small business training, expert mentoring and income support. The program is part of New Business Assistance, an Australian government initiative managed by Centrelink and the Department of Human Services.
To engage in the NEIS program with MTC Australia, participants must live in the Sydney South West or Sydney East Metro areas and be:
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to legally work in Australia
- Available to participate in NEIS training and work full-time in their proposed NEIS business.
NEIS is also available to part-time workers or students, and volunteers.
Eligible participants must not have:
- Received NEIS assistance within the past 12 months
- Filed for bankruptcy and still be classified as bankrupt.
Locations and online availability
MTC Australia offers the NEIS program throughout the Sydney South West and Sydney East Metro areas. We also offer flexible, online delivery of the program to ensure that our customers within the Sydney South West and Sydney East Metro areas can undertake the program remotely if need be.
When customers complete their application, we’ll advise of their suitability, assign a course start date and a dedicated Business Coach who will assess the commercial viability of their business venture.

Exploring Being My Own Boss (EBMOB)
If your customer isn’t quite ready to start their own business, but might be interested in doing so, we currently offer online, five-day Exploring Being My Own Boss (EBMOB) workshops.
These workshops are designed to help participants better understand what self-employment means, obtain the practical information they need to start their own business and to give them the chance to network and discuss their ideas with other people.
