Earlier this year, as a part of our Opportunity Hub program, MTC invited several years 11 and 12 students to attend the Inspiring the Future – Future in Focus workshop at Campbelltown TAFE’s Aboriginal Pathways Centre.
The goal of the workshop is to support students to understand and develop employability skills and broaden occupational possibilities.
The students were encouraged to participate in activities and given the opportunity to engage in conversations around gender and socio-economic stereotypes, helping them to understand unique strategies to start a positive career journey.
After a catered lunch, the students were introduced to Indigenous Industry mentors. They were broken into smaller groups of four so they could have more personal discussions with the Indigenous Industry mentors about their own career journeys and to ask questions and for advice.
The students had a wonderful time, and the feedback from the mentors and students alike has been extremely positive. After this success, Opportunity Hub is looking at hosting another workshop later in the year.
