MTC Australia is an independent social enterprise that enables people to overcome barriers on their path to meaningful work. We do this through the employment, mentoring and training programs we deliver.
We are sharing a Good News Story from MTC Australia’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program. MTC Australia’s Queensland team began running the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program in September 2023. The Skilling Queenslanders for Work TKO Program is proudly funded by the
Queensland Government.
Martin had been struggling to find meaningful employment since the Covid pandemic and lockdowns. As a mature aged jobseeker, Martin faced barriers to attracting serious job offers which would lead to secure and sustained employment.
After just one day with MTC Australia’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work TKO program with Co-ordinator Daniel, Martin was referred to an employer contact by MTC’s Recruitment Coach Sam. Martin gained an interview with the employer and secured a job!
Martin attended the SQW program for two weeks and recently began his new job. Co-ordinator Daniel said Martin applied himself diligently, increasing his confidence through the course, improving his resume writing skills and perfecting his interview techniques.
“Not only did I have a lot of fun but I learnt gratitude and discipline from my mentors. My main achievement was the networking and valuable contacts with industry partners that allowed me to land a job in no time with TSA, a TELSTRA call centre that promises to be challenging and, at the same time, rewarding,” Martin said.
“(MTC Australia SQW Co-ordinator) Daniel Fynch gave really practical tips for tailoring an assertive and concise resume, which helped me to be shortlisted. He also helped me build my confidence for the job interview. James Weait and his team gave me the required confidence to deal with the challenges that mature-age candidates face frequently. Thanks a lot to MTC Australia and Populi Solutions for bringing out the best version of myself, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.”
