When Yan Ling joined our jobactive program he had been unemployed for fourteen years, seven of which he had been homeless for. Yan Ling had a wonderful attitude and was willing to take on any opportunity, but English was a barrier for him, and he lacked digital skills.
Yan Ling’s work coach suggested that our Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program could help him improve his English skills as well as offer computer literacy training, which would be a huge advantage to him.
While in the training Yan Ling excelled! With the help of his work coach, he soon had found a great vacancy that he wanted to apply for where a language barrier wouldn’t cause a problem in communication.
Yan Ling’s work coach was extremely dedicated to helping him with filling out his application for the job, organising the training he required, assisting him in getting his Working with Children Check, and getting him ready for his interview with the employer.
Yan Ling was successful in his application and was offered a position as a cleaner with a leading workplace experience and facility management company!
Yan Ling has now been with his new employer for over three months and is doing very well. He is thrilled to be able to work again after such a long period of time, and we are very happy that he has found such a wonderful position where he is valued.
