When Peter entered our jobactive (now Workforce Australia) program, he was lacking confidence but was very motivated to work. He had moved to New South Wales after struggling financially as a casual traffic controller for over a year in a different state. Peter didn’t have any savings and was relying solely on Centrelink payments to live.
Peter’s work coach remained in constant contact with him, advising him about the different types of opportunities available to him and encouraging him to apply for different jobs. Peter was able to successfully secure a casual position as a warehouse assistant, however, he found that he couldn’t get enough hours in that role.
When Peter’s recruitment coach arranged another interview for him, this time as a full-time production worker, his work coach continued to provide support to Peter, preparing him for his interview and offering support, even during Sydney’s lockdown.
Thanks to the help he received Peter now has stable employment and is very happy at his new job! He says he has finally achieved his employment goal of a permanent job! Peter recently bought a car and is confident about his career and his future, knowing that MTC will be looking out for him if he ever needs anything.
